Janelle Monáe on 'UglyDolls' and Self-Acceptance

I interviewed Grammy-nominated artist and actor Janelle Monáe about the new film UglyDolls, which she voices a character for alongside Charli XCX, Lizzo and Kelly Clarkson.

I wrote about how the film continues Monáe's exploration of themes of self-love and acceptance, in light of her coming out as pansexual and releasing her album Dirty Computer, which explores the concept of rewriting the toxic programming that society codes us with.
